Mike Wilder

Mike Wilder is Vice President, Business Practice Innovation of STTAS, resident in the Detroit office. Mr. Wilder has 25 years’ experience in all major areas of customs and international trade. As North American customs manager for a major auto parts company he oversaw all facets of U.S. import and Mexico import/export compliance, including classification, valuation, trade preference qualification, maquiladoras, broker selection and management, and supply chain security.

He had similar responsibilities as a senior customs manager for another auto parts company, where he also managed efforts on restricted party screening, export classification and sanctions. As a manager for a major consulting firm he advised clients on customs compliance issues and the implementation of customs compliance software and conducted compliance assessments. Earlier in his career he served in various positions for a major automaker, where he developed, implemented and managed the company’s NAFTA processes and was the business lead on the development of automated NAFTA qualification systems as well as the company’s post-entry/reconciliation tracking system.

Earlier in his career Mr. Wilder served as a regulatory auditor for U.S. Customs, dealing with issues such as computed value, 9802, drawback, foreign-trade zones, bonded warehouses, customs brokers, the Caribbean Basin Initiative and suspected money laundering. While in this position he was the audit representative on a cross-functional fraud task force.

Mr. Wilder holds an MBA from the University of Michigan and a BBA in accounting from the University of Texas at El Paso. He is a certified public accountant.
